Betty Margaret Sears, age 99, devoted Mother and Grandmother, passed away peacefully at home on February 25, 2018. She was born on August 12, 1918 in Bozeman, MT, to Albert and Karen Schlechten. She was raised by Peter and Inger Hansen of Minneapolis, MN. She grew up with her siblings, Harold and Mabel Hansen. She married George W. Sears on December 19, 1942. She is survived by her son Harold F. Sears (Meredith) of Boulder, CO, her daughters Marilyn S. Davis (Scott) of Derby KS, and Carol S. Moxcey (Mike) of Ft. Collins, CO, grandchildren, Jesse Crisp-Sears (Angela) of Pittsboro, NC, Eric Davis of Derby, KS, Jill Davis of Shawnee, KS, Karen Moxcey of Westminster, CO, Matthew Moxcey of Ft. Collins, CO, and one great-grandchild, Carter Crisp-Sears of Pittsboro, NC. She was preceded in death by her husband George, and a grandson, Colin D. Sears. After getting married, she and George lived in Richland, WA, for a time, then moved to Wilmington, DE, where they raised their three children. When the children were grown, they moved to Boulder, CO. In "retirement" Betty enjoyed working for the Geological Society of America as a proofreader and as a proofreader for her church newsletter. When asked for her occupation, she always put down "homemaker/proofreader," and she was the most wonderful Mother, and the best Grandmother a child could ever have. Her eyes were full of love, and her hugs would brighten up the day! Her memory is our keepsake, with which we’ll never part. Mom, God has you in his keeping, we have you in our heart. A memorial service will not be held at this time. The family will meet this summer to celebrate her long and happy life.
